How to Use a "Zoomify" Map:
Known Browser Issues: The basic viewer object has been tested and works fine in Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. However, we have found that the options for changing the map size only work in IE and Firefox. And when it comes to printing, it seems that only IE will produce the image - the others just show an empty box. Because of this, we recommend you use Internet Explorer to view any of our Zoomify pages, especially if you want to print.
Zoomify Map Sizes: Along the bottom of the page are ten preset map size options to help maximize the amount of map visible on your screen. On the left are screen sizes designed to fit the map to any of four standard screen resolutions. By default, the map is set to screen size number 2 (800 x 600 pixels). To choose another setting, simply click on one of these options. There are also six print sizes designed to fit on one of three standard paper sizes using either of two page orientations. Page sizes are: 1=Letter (8.5x11), 2=Legal (8.5x14), and 3=Tabloid (11x17). Page orientations are: L=Landscape and P=Portrait.
Zoomify Toolbar Functions:
At the bottom of the map there is a toolbar similar to the one shown here. It can sometimes be hard to see because of a busy map in the background. To the right of the toolbar we have made a list of the various functions that these tools can do. Run your cursor over the name of the tool and the tool's symbol will light up on our sample toolbar.
Zoomify Overview Map: If there is an overview map in the upper-left corner of the page, then you can use this map to quickly navigate around the city - there is no need to zoom all the way out and then back in somewhere else. You should see a red box on the overview map that indicates which part of the city you have zoomed into - simply click and drag this box around to change the focal point of the detail map.
